God Raised Up This Man

This man though of humble birth has won immortal fame

You and I we know him well for Cardijn is his name.

In this world he showed God’s plan to every girl and boy.

Young hearts beat with hope and pride that God raised up this man.

This man shared the workers’ life and found a simple truth:

He could help all working men by patient trust in you.

Through his labours and his prayers the movement came to birth;

Now it’s spread throughout the world since God raised up this man.

Christian workers of the world sing with joyful hearts.

Now we’re serving Christ our King since he raised up this man.

This man showed each boy and girl their dignity sublime

Taught us how to work for Christ; to use our precious time.

Old in years but young in heart, and for him we pray

And we’re grateful everyday that God raised up this man.
